REI Prime Extension Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the REI Prime browser extension ("the Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information.
What the Extension Does
The Extension analyzes real estate listings on Zillow, Redfin, and Realtor.com. When you visit a property listing page on one of these sites, the Extension extracts publicly visible property data (price, beds, baths, square footage, taxes, insurance, HOA fees, rent estimates) and displays a deal analysis in a side panel.
Information We Collect
Property Data (from listing pages you visit)
When you visit a property listing on a supported site, the Extension reads publicly visible data from that page, including:
- Listing price or home value estimate
- Property characteristics (beds, baths, square footage, year built, property type)
- Tax information (from tax history sections)
- Insurance and HOA amounts (when displayed)
- Rent estimates (when displayed)
This data is used solely to calculate deal metrics displayed in the Extension's side panel. We do not store property addresses, exact prices, or any information that identifies specific properties on our servers.
User Preferences (stored locally)
The Extension stores your analysis assumptions (down payment percentage, interest rate, loan term, vacancy rate, etc.) locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. These preferences persist across browser sessions so you don't have to re-enter them for each property. This data never leaves your device.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
The Extension sends anonymous usage events to Google Analytics 4 via the Measurement Protocol. These events help us understand how the Extension is used and where to improve it. Analytics events include:
- Feature usage (which tabs you view, whether you request AI estimates)
- Extraction quality (how many data fields were successfully extracted, by platform)
- Error rates (when AI estimates fail)
What we do NOT track: property addresses, exact prices, your browsing history, or any personally identifiable information. Prices are converted to ranges (e.g., "200k-300k") before being sent to analytics. Each installation gets a random anonymous ID — we cannot link analytics data to your identity.
Information Sent to External Services
REI Prime API (reiprime.com)
When you click "Estimate for me," the Extension sends the property's listing URL and basic characteristics (price, beds, baths, square footage, property type) to our API at reiprime.com. Our API uses Google's Gemini AI to estimate rent, taxes, insurance, and neighborhood context. The request is signed with HMAC-SHA256 for integrity.
We do not store the property data sent to our API. It is processed in real-time and discarded after the response is generated.
Google Analytics
Anonymous usage events are sent to Google Analytics via the Measurement Protocol. See "Anonymous Usage Analytics" above for what is and isn't tracked.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Your browsing history outside of supported listing sites
- Property addresses or exact listing prices
- Financial information (income, credit score, bank accounts)
- Location data beyond what's visible on the listing page
- Data from any website other than Zillow, Redfin, and Realtor.com

No personal data is stored on our servers.

Your Choices
- Uninstall the Extension at any time to stop all data collection and delete all locally stored data.
- Don't click "Estimate for me" if you prefer not to send property data to our API. The Extension works without AI estimates — you can enter values manually.
- Clear Chrome storage to delete saved assumptions and the analytics client ID.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
